Bike Tour Canceled

As the bike tour approaches, Lacie and I have discussed at great length whether or not the event will take place this year. We loved putting on the event, seeing the cyclists, and helping the park. When I asked Lacie to help me put a bike tour on several years ago I said I could never do it without her help. Unfortunately, her work schedule consumes most of her time. While I know she would find a way to make it happen, I think the stress of doing so will take away from the enjoyment we find in putting the event on. When we started, there was never a goal of how many tours or dollar amounts. We did it for the love of cycling and helping our community. We are grateful for everyone's help over the last three years. Most importantly, THANK YOU RIDERS! We would have never had an event if you didn't show up to ride. There is always a possibility the ride will be back.
See you on the road...

Event Survey

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the 3rd Annual Millerstown Community Park Bike Tour on Saturday!

Scott and I were so happy with the turn out and weather that we have dubbed this year's event "The Best One Yet"! We are still working on finalizing the total profit, but the event is much more than a fundraiser for us. We do this event because we LOVE seeing other cyclists riding in our backyard! The plus is that we also get to raise money for a great organization that promotes being outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Thus we have all of our favorite things wrapped into one event!

We scheduled a short survey to be emailed to all participants sometime today (June 25th). We would really appreciate if you take a few minutes to give us some feedback on the ride. If you provided an email address during Registration, your survey will be delivered there. If for some reason you don't receive an email or you didn't provide your email address, you can use the link below to complete the survey. =) Thank you!!

Check back later this week for pictures and event totals!

Of course I couldn't resist giving you a picture sneak peak ;)!

Isaac would like to thank his sponsors: Oreo, Gevalia, Pop Tarts, and most importantly... Kotex.  Hahaha! We loved the creativity!

I bet you can't guess who this cute little guy belongs too! The brains and beauty of his momma and the drama of his daddo. =)

This group from State College was a hoot!
They completed the 100K... but not without a little sweat and pain! ;) Awesome job!

Picture Perfect Routes

Scott took some pictures along the bike routes as he was painting arrows this week!

On the 50K and 100K routes.

Look at this cute, little guy!!
He was just hanging out on Owl Hollow Road.  All three courses pass through here, so keep an eye out =).

There are definitely some gorgeous views on each of the routes!

If you take any great pictures during the ride, please email them to us so we can share on the blog.  Thank you!

Only 9 days to go... Shirt design complete!

Millerstown Community Park Bike Tour
 2013 T-Shirt

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the t-shirt itself is navy in color with a very similar bike tour logo to last year's. The green of the leaf isn't quite as bright and the yellow from last year is now white.
The printing of sponsors on the back isn't complete yet, but the front looks good!

Pre-Registered Riders - $25 - This includes a free event t-shirt!
Day-of-Registration Riders - $30 - T-shirts are an additional $12 for adults and $10 youth.

Almost Bike Tour Time!

Less than 2 weeks until the 3rd Annual Millerstown Community Park Bike Tour!!

Preparations are in the final stages and things are coming together. Whew! The most important thing we are waiting on is for more riders to register. Our goal is to have 100 riders this year, and so far we're only a quarter of the way there. Yikes!! I have a feeling that most people are waiting a few more days to get a look at the weather. Remember ~ the event will go on, rain or shine!

We have had beautiful weather the past 2 years and we're hoping for more of the same this year.
The Accuweather Extended Forecast is predicting a high of 80 degrees with sun and clouds! Sounds like a repeat of last year =)!

Riders, don't forget to pre-register by June 20th to get the lower price and a free event t-shirt. We're going with a blue/navy shirt this year [preview to be posted soon!].

Pre-Registration - $25
Day-Of Registration - $30
* There are no additional fees to register online. *

You can also register by mail...
Step 2:  Fill out form and include cash/check for payment
(made payable to Millerstown Recreational Committee)
Step 3:  Mail to Scott Sanderson 202 Old Ferry Rd., Millerstown, PA 17062

We'll be seeing you all soon!

Registration Open!

Now that the weather has taken a turn for the WARM, it's time to start thinking about getting active outdoors!

You may be feeling a little rusty after the long, cold winter... and what better way to get motivated than to register for the Millerstown Community Park Bike Tour! There are a little over 10 weeks until the ride, which should be just enough time to prepare. It's not a race, so no need to worry about speed =)!

We will be giving away a $15 gift certificate for Road ID to the first person to register online!

Online registration is now open...

Pre-Registration - $25
Day-Of Registration - $30
* There are no additional fees to register online. *

You can also register by mail...
Step 2:  Fill out form and include cash/check for payment
(made payable to Millerstown Recreational Committee)
Step 3:  Mail to Scott Sanderson 202 Old Ferry Rd., Millerstown, PA 17062

We are headlong into the planning and things are coming together nicely this year! The courses will be very similar to last year (as long as there is no last minute road work). The only change (for now) will be an additional rest stop on the 100K course.

This has been a crazy year for us with Lacie traveling around the state to finish her clinical rotations. With that in mind and the great feedback we received from last years event, we've kept most aspects of the event the same for this year.  Our goal for 2013 is to get over 100 riders and raise at least $4,000!

(Don't worry... We've already started a list for 2014 which includes adding a mountain climb option!)

Happy Spring Riding!

~ Scott and Lacie
